Your Educational Foundation is partnering with the Lake City Boys and Girls club to offer a series of 3-D Printing Workshops. This is an opportunity for students to learn to design and make their own creations. So, bring your ideas and let’s make them happen. You do not have to know anything about 3-D printing or design for these workshops.
Each 3-D Printing Workshop will have a limited number of participants. This way each student gets ample time to experiment with the equipment. Your designs can be created at home and brought on a thumb drive to print. Or, you can create your design on our computers. Early learners will be expected to share their knowledge with newer participants. That way, most of the learning will come from doing rather than from listening to a teacher.
We will be using equipment similar to the low-end printers used by Florence Darlington Tech’s Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SiMT). If additive manufacturing is of interest to you, this will give you a good preview of the opportunities. It will also prepare you to get the most of FDTC’s course offerings.
Since each workshop will have limited enrollment, you should enroll early. You may do that by going to the Contact Us page and sending us your name, school, grade, and contact information. We will work with you on a schedule. All 3-D Printing Workshops will be held at the Lake City Boys and Girls Club, located at 131 Calhoun Street in Lake City. This is the old National Guard Armory. They are open each day from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
